摘要:PURPOSE:To enhance the S forming reaction rate of a Claus reactor when a gascontg. SO2 is treated by reduction and the Claus reaction to reduce the SO2 and torecover S, by regulating the amount of oxygen supplied to an SO2 reduction reactor.CONSTITUTION:A gas 2 contg. SO2 reduction reactor 4 together with a carbon material22 for reduction and air 3 to reduce most of the SO2 to S, and solid S is recovered bycondensation with a condenser 6. A gas 7 contg. H2S and COS by-produced by saidreaction and the remaining SO2 is introduced into Claus reactors 8, 11, where theremaining SO2 is reduced to S by reaction with the H2S and COS, and H2O and CO2 areproduced. Solid S is recovered by condensation with condensers 9, 12. At this time, theamount of the SO2 is so regulated as to make the molar ratio of H2S:SO2 and that ofCOS:SO2 in the reactors 8, 11 most suitable for the Claus reaction. To regulate theamount of the SO2, the amount of air fed to the reactor 4 is properly regulated with acontroller 16 and air flow rate regulating valves 17, 19 in accordance with the analyzedvalue 15 of SO2 in final waste gas. Thus, the remaining SO2 is thorougly reduced to S bythe Claus reaction.
